HIIT Harder for Rapid Gains – http://pulse.me/s/JrUbr

So I know that it has been a while since I posted anything about my journey to fitness. This week I was reminded about why I started this journey fitness.

If you’ve been following my journey you remember that I talked about being at my uncles funeral last year and realizing what my life and my body and everything will look like in 20 plus years.    This realization came as I saw my dad,  my uncles, my brother and cousin and all of us males had the same body type in many of them all had the same health issues of diabetes, high blood pressure, some heart issues and Lord knows what else.

Well this week I had a stark reminder of why this journey started almost a year in a week to the day that my uncle Bo was buried we also lost another one of my uncles this time it was lung and liver cancer.  I saw again my dad and my other uncles and where they are now in their health and other the males in my family that are my age and younger we’re all heading.

This year though there was something different, this year I saw my male cousin that has lost about 75 or more pounds and a female cousin is lost 57 pounds since last year.  This is in addition to my 50 plus pounds and my wife please 75 plus pounds that we have lost.  It feel good to know that many of us are starting to see are reality if we do not change things.

While we all know this journey is a journey is not an overnight quick fix but is taking us to be more healthy decisions and you better choose bodies and how we treat our bodies.

While the last couple weeks and family has been hard on us emotionally and mentally it was good to see and encouraging to see the changes that many of us have started to make physically.

Here is an article rhat I found this morning.  While I didn’t know it at the time, I have been doing many of these things this year on #MYjourney2fitness.

The Biggest Weight-Loss News of 2013 – http://pulse.me/s/IajWN

In my previous post, I shared with you some of my motivation for wanting to make serious change my life and wanting to get healthy and to achieve a whole new level of fitness.  One of my biggest hurdles was, as it is for most people, I didn’t know what to do on how to effectively loose weight and to become healthy and fit.  I know how to be in maintenance mode, but frankly it had been 19 years since I was in “maintenance” mode and just like with anything else on the Internet, there are a million “experts” out there that look like “The Incredible Hulk” or have little to no “cred” on how to loose weight safely, permanently, etc.

I started to do some searching on local resources to where i live.  I found that the local hospital has a program that was fairly inexpensive, meet a couple times a week and would provide me with nutrtion counseling & accountability and a trainer that will help oversee/ coach our group workouts and be available to answer questions if need be.  The cost of the program included the use of the cardiac rehab gym.  This program was called “Healthy Weigh 4 Life”.  It was a great 8-week program that really helped me to get started on a good foundation and to work in healthy habits throughout my life.  It was during this program, that I did struggle at times with changing my diet.  Then a couple of realizations came to me during this time:

Weight loss is 70% diet and 30% increased activity-
